Dr. Jake Galdo, PharmD, BCPS, CGP, assistant professor of pharmacy practice and the community pharmacy residency director at Samford University’s McWhorter School of Pharmacy, comes back to Healthy Dose® with more information about pain management, specifically in regards to opioid medications. Dr. Galdo will discuss the expectations we should have with pain medication based on the pain scale, what opioids are and how they are classified, and how many days it can take to become addicted to opioids based on new research by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Dr. Galdo will also briefly address the new CVS policy that will be limiting the opioid medication to a week supply for all of their patients.
